Wood Ship’s Figurehead

Carved wood ship’s figurehead of small size from a shipwreck off the coast of Maine found in York County. 19th c.  Remains of old polychrome on the surface. There is a chip on chin and the back side is eroded with losses. Extremely finely carved as a portrait in wood.
ht. 14 x 9 x 5 inches mounted on stepped wood base. Ht on base is 17 inches
